If you are planning a vacation further down the coast, it appears that the coast line will be unaffected by the oil spill, at least for a few days.

This may be a great time to get a fantastic deal on vacation rentals and hotels on Florida beaches, if you are willing to take the risk that the oil will not show up during your vacation.

Oil Spill and Florida Panhandle

The oil spill seems to have been plugged, at least temporarily, according to BP as of Jun 3, 2010.  Recent efforts to put a cap on one of the leaking pipes appears to have been succesful.

The real question at this point is will the Florida Gulf be seeing any oil soon.  So far, the oil is appearing along the Alabama and Mississippi coastline, but not yet along Florida coastlines.

Many condo rental companies are offering a guaranteed vacation rate, meaning that if the oil does show up you can re-schedule your vacation plans for no cost.  This may be something to look since oil on the beach would definitely be a downer.  Check out Waterstone Resorts for a guaranteed vacation.
