Oil Reaching Pensacola

Reports today indicate that some of the BP Oil spill in the Gulf area is reaching the Pensacola coast line.  Many businesses are being affected, including hotels, boat tours, fishing and tourist attractions, as travelers cancel plans for visiting or vacation in this area.

If you are planning a vacation further down the coast, it appears that the coast line will be unaffected by the oil spill, at least for a few days.

This may be a great time to get a fantastic deal on vacation rentals and hotels on Florida beaches, if you are willing to take the risk that the oil will not show up during your vacation.

Oil Spill and Florida Panhandle

The oil spill seems to have been plugged, at least temporarily, according to BP as of Jun 3, 2010.  Recent efforts to put a cap on one of the leaking pipes appears to have been succesful.

The real question at this point is will the Florida Gulf be seeing any oil soon.  So far, the oil is appearing along the Alabama and Mississippi coastline, but not yet along Florida coastlines.

Many condo rental companies are offering a guaranteed vacation rate, meaning that if the oil does show up you can re-schedule your vacation plans for no cost.  This may be something to look since oil on the beach would definitely be a downer.  Check out Waterstone Resorts for a guaranteed vacation.

Trip Insurance for Florida Vacation

Many of the condo rental companies in Florida require payment in full up to one month before you arrive. This can sometimes be a sticky point when you are uncertain of your vacation plans.

Trip insurance might be a good idea if you think that something might come up and you won't be able to go on your trip. Check around with several places to see what the best rates are to insure your stay in the event that you have to cancel or change your plans.

I have found several condo rental companies that offer trip protection as a part of their service. You can request it when you book your stay. Some places will charge a small percentage of your total fee, others charge a flat rate. Either way, you are probably better off if you purchase some sort of protection for your vacation.

Is it warm yet in Florida?

News from CompareFloridaCondos.com!

I don't know if you have looked at the weather forecast lately, but it sure seems like the people that are getting snow are the people that usually are envied for warm weather during the winter months.

If this is what our winter is going to be like, then what will be in store for the summer? Maybe it is time to extend the summer vacation plans into later summer - maybe late June to August, instead of early June. There is a possibility that it won't be quite vacation warm in May or early June.

Whatever the weather, Florida will always be a great place for a vacation!
